Bentley Mulsanne Key Celebrates Its Centenary
Bentley's bespoke coachbuilding division, Mulliner, has designed an exclusive key case to celebrate the brand's centenary. It is made of Dark Stained Burr Walnut and Piano Black veneer, it includes a flying "B" paperweight, a set of keys and a brochure featuring never-before-seen 1930 8 Litre imagery.

Aesthetics
As a design-centric company Bentley takes its aesthetics extremely seriously. Function
The Bentley Mulsanne key comes with buttons that open the trunk and a second button that starts the car. The key also has a button to turn on the parking brake. There is a knob that can fold and unfold the mirrors while parked in tight areas. This feature makes it easier to get into and out of your car.
Each key takes two days to create. The key is cut by hand, then shaped, sewed, sealed, and then polished to achieve a high-quality result. It is durable, compact, and fits the Bentley key perfectly. Its design is similar with the Volkswagen Phaeton's massive car key, however it feels more substantial and luxurious.
It also comes with Secure-A-Key, which helps prevent theft of keys with no key. This device is inserted inside the remote control key fob and will shut it off after a few minutes of inactivity, preventing thieves from transmitting the frequency of the key to other devices that are able to unlock and start the vehicle.
Bentley's distinctive design reflects the company's values that include fine craftsmanship and engineering expertise as well as modern technology. Bentley estimates that it takes 500 man-hours on average to build and construct the Mulsanne. One of the main reasons for that lengthy effort is a deliberate refusal to embrace modern tech. Instead of using a machine to space the perfectly-matched leather seats workers at the Crewe factory do it by hand. Drivers must park their cars manually, rather than using sensors built into the vehicle to guide them into perpendicular and parallel spots.
The event also saw Bentley showcased its Mulliner personalization options with one particular example that was the Mulsanne W.O. The Mulsanne W.O. Edition pays tribute to the founder William Osler Bentley. The limited-edition cars come with an exclusive key that shows a portion of the 1930 8 Litre's crankshaft.
